Insurance & Payment — How It Actually Works

Honest guide to payment timing, currency options, accepted methods, deposit structure, refund policy, and the realistic insurance reimbursement context for international dental tourism patients.

Patients planning dental tourism trips often have practical questions about payment timing and insurance. This guide is honest about how payment works at WeCare and the realistic context for insurance reimbursement.

Payment Structure at WeCare

Deposit at booking confirmation: 20-30% of total quoted package. Secures your treatment dates, hotel reservation, and material orders specific to your case (custom abutments, lab blocks, etc.).

Balance payment during treatment: Paid in 1-2 instalments during your visit, typically 50% on day 1 (after CBCT confirms initial plan) and 50% on day 4-5 after final restoration approval.

No payment until satisfied: Final balance is held until you approve the final restoration on day 5-6. If you reject the result during try-in, the ceramist redoes the work at no charge before final bonding.

This structure aligns our incentives with yours — we are paid in full only after you sign off on the final result.

Accepted Payment Methods

  • Bank wire transfer (preferred for deposit) — EUR, GBP, USD, or TRY accepted
  • Credit card (Visa, Mastercard, American Express) at clinic on day of treatment
  • Cash — EUR, GBP, USD, TRY (smaller deposits only; large balances by card or wire)
  • Cryptocurrency — Bitcoin and Ethereum accepted on request through specialized payment processor
  • We do NOT accept:

  • Personal cheques (international clearing too slow)
  • PayPal (fees too high for medical-grade transactions)
  • Buy-now-pay-later services (clinical context inappropriate)
  • Currency Considerations

    Prices are quoted in EUR by default. We can quote in:

  • EUR — most common for European patients
  • GBP — for UK patients
  • USD — for US patients
  • TRY — for Turkish residents
  • Exchange rates locked at quotation date for 30 days. After 30 days, re-quote at current rates.

    Insurance Reimbursement Reality

    UK private dental insurance: Generally does NOT cover treatment abroad. Specific corporate plans with international dental rider are exceptions. Check your specific policy.

    EU national health insurance (Germany, France, etc.): Limited reimbursement possible under cross-border healthcare directives but typically applies to medically necessary care only, not elective. Turkey is non-EU so directive does not apply.

    Private supplemental insurance (Allianz Privat, DKV, etc.): Some premium supplemental plans cover dental abroad up to a national-equivalent rate. Submit your itemised quotation to your insurer before booking for pre-approval.

    Travel insurance: Recommended for trip cancellation, lost luggage, and medical emergency during travel — but does NOT cover the dental treatment itself.

    Realistic expectation: Most patients self-pay for Turkey treatment. The total cost is typically lower than home-country private rates even without reimbursement.

    What WeCare Provides for Insurance Submission

    If your insurer is willing to consider partial reimbursement:

  • Itemised written quotation with line items
  • Detailed invoice after treatment with all procedure codes
  • Brand certificates for any premium materials placed
  • Treatment summary report in English
  • Doctor's signature and clinic stamp on all documents
  • Submit before booking for pre-approval, after treatment for reimbursement claim.

    Refund Policy

    Before arrival:

  • Cancel 14+ days before: full refund minus bank transfer fees (~€50-100)
  • Cancel 7-14 days before: 50% refund of deposit
  • Cancel under 7 days: no deposit refund (hotel and lab work already committed)
  • During treatment:

  • If you decide to abort treatment after surgery has begun, balance is calculated based on work completed
  • Materials already custom-fabricated are non-refundable (impossible to use for another patient)
  • After treatment:

  • 5-year warranty on crowns and veneers — free fly-back to Antalya for repair or replacement
  • Lifetime warranty on titanium implant fixture
  • No general "satisfaction" refund after final approval — your written sign-off at try-in is the commitment point

    Can I get a refund if I don't like the result?

    During treatment, yes — at the day-5 try-in step the work is unbonded. If you reject, master ceramist redoes at no charge before final bonding. After your written approval and final cementation, refunds are not standard, but warranty applies (free fly-back for any failure within warranty).

    Do you offer payment plans or financing?

    No internal financing. Some patients use third-party medical loans from companies in their home country. WeCare does not partner with specific financing providers — we receive payment directly per quoted schedule.

    What happens if I need to cancel?

    14+ days before: full refund minus bank fees. 7-14 days before: 50% deposit refund. Under 7 days: no refund (hotel and lab committed). We try to be flexible for genuine emergencies — contact us early.
