What to Pack for Dental Tourism in Antalya: Complete Checklist

What to Pack for Your Dental Trip to Antalya

Practical packing checklist for medical tourism patients. Documents, medications, comfort items for recovery, and what NOT to bring. Your hotel and transfer are already arranged — these are the personal items that matter.

Dental tourism is different from regular tourism. You will be in a clinic for several days, recovering at a hotel, and managing minor post-op care alongside Mediterranean sightseeing. This packing checklist covers everything specific to a 5-7 day WeCare dental treatment trip — what to bring, what to leave, and what we provide on-site.

What WeCare Provides (Don't Pack These)

  • 4-star hotel accommodation with toiletries (shampoo, body wash, towels)
  • Mercedes airport transfer (no taxi needed)
  • All medical supplies (gauze, ice packs, post-op kit)
  • All medications related to your treatment (antibiotics, painkillers if needed)
  • Take-home aftercare kit including special toothpaste, polish, night guard for grinders
  • Multilingual coordinator who handles any local logistics
  • Hotel breakfast included; lunch/dinner not included but plenty of options near hotel
  • Essential Documents

Passport — Must be valid for at least 6 months from your travel date. EU/UK/CH/US/Canada passport holders do not need a visa for stays under 90 days. Other nationalities should check Turkish visa requirements.

Flight tickets — Both directions. Print backup copies in case your phone battery dies.

Travel insurance — Recommended (separate from any health insurance for the treatment itself). Should cover trip cancellation, medical emergencies, and lost luggage.

Hotel and treatment confirmation — WeCare sends a complete itinerary 7 days before your travel date. Print it or save offline.

Medical records — Bring a copy of any pre-treatment X-rays, medication lists, allergies, and physician contact information. The original X-ray you sent us via WhatsApp is enough.

Credit card / cash — For meals, shopping, and personal expenses. Treatment is paid as agreed in your written quotation. Most restaurants and shops accept Visa/Mastercard. ATMs are widely available.

    Medications

Continue all your regular medications unless specifically advised otherwise. Bring:

  • Prescription medications in original packaging with pharmacy label
  • A list of dosages and timing
  • A few extra days' supply in case of travel delays
  • Your own preferred over-the-counter painkillers if you have a brand preference (we provide standard paracetamol/ibuprofen)
  • Specific to dental treatment:

  • If you take blood thinners (warfarin, aspirin, clopidogrel, DOACs), bring exactly the dosing schedule. Do NOT stop them without your prescribing physician's instruction.
  • If you are diabetic, bring your insulin or oral hypoglycemics, glucose monitor, and HbA1c result from the last 3 months.
  • If you take bisphosphonates (Fosamax, Boniva, Zometa), bring documentation of duration and route.
  • Clothing

Comfortable clothes for 5-7 days — layered, easy to wash. Antalya weather varies by season:

  • April-October: warm to hot. Light, breathable clothing.
  • November-March: mild. Light jacket and sweater needed.
  • Loose-fitting tops — easier to put on after surgery without disturbing healing areas.

Easy-to-tie shoes or slip-ons — bending down to tie laces is uncomfortable for the first few days post-surgery.

Comfortable hotel-to-clinic outfit — you may have multiple clinic visits during your stay.

A scarf — Antalya can be windy, especially evenings near the coast. Useful for after surgery to cover the lower face if you feel self-conscious.

    Personal Care for Recovery

Soft toothbrush — Bring one for use the first 2-3 days post-surgery. WeCare provides a special soft brush in the take-home kit for after.

Lip balm — Mouth held open during surgery dries lips. Lip balm helps for 48 hours post-op.

Eye drops — Long flights and air-conditioned hotels can cause dry eyes. Useful comfort item.

Phone charger and travel adapter — Turkey uses Type C/F (European) plugs. UK travellers need an adapter; EU travellers do not.

Earplugs and eye mask — useful for hotel sleep, especially if you are sensitive to light or noise during recovery.

Comfort Items for Lab Phase Days

For Hollywood smile / veneer cases, days 3-4 are lab phase with no clinical appointments. You have free time to explore Antalya. Consider:

  • A book or e-reader
  • Comfortable walking shoes for old town strolls
  • Sunscreen (yes, even in winter — Antalya is sunny)
  • Sunglasses
  • Swimwear (most 4-star hotels have heated indoor pools year-round; outdoor pools April-October)
  • Beach towel (hotels provide, but a personal one is convenient)
  • What NOT to Pack

  • Excessive luggage — most patients overpack. 5-7 days needs less than you think.
  • Heavy/expensive jewellery — leave at home. You will not need it during dental treatment.
  • Hard-to-replace electronics — laptop is rarely useful during recovery
  • Too many books — Antalya has English-language bookshops in Lara and old town
  • Specific Items by Treatment Type

    Implant patients:

  • Soft food preferences for hotel meals (we order soup, smoothies, mashed potatoes ready)
  • Cold pack (we provide; bring extra if you have a preferred brand)
  • Pillow elevator for sleeping with head raised first 2 nights
  • Hollywood smile patients:

  • Photos of smile inspirations (helpful for design discussion on day 1)
  • A previous smile photo of yourself (for reference shade-matching)
  • Camera or good phone for after-photos (you will want documentation)
  • All-on-4 patients:

  • Loose pyjamas for hotel comfort first 3 nights
  • Two sets of comfortable hotel shoes
  • Plenty of bottled water — hotel water is fine, but having extras at hand reduces movement
  • What to Pack on the Way Home

After treatment we send you home with:

  • Take-home aftercare kit (special toothpaste, polish, custom night guard if grinder)
  • Brand certificates for any implants placed
  • Written aftercare instructions in your language
  • Follow-up schedule
  • Souvenirs (honestly — Antalya has excellent Turkish delight, baklava, and local olive oil; many patients pack some)
  • WhatsApp +90 551 086 83 68 if you have any specific questions about what to bring for your case.

    Sık Sorulan Sorular

How much luggage do I need for a 7-day dental trip?

One medium suitcase (carry-on size or slightly larger) is plenty for most patients. Hotel laundry is available. Less luggage = easier airport transfer and easier hotel mobility during recovery.

Do I need to bring my own toothbrush?

Bring one for the first 2-3 days. After treatment we provide a take-home aftercare kit including a special soft brush appropriate for your specific case. Hotels provide standard toothbrushes too.

Should I bring my own painkillers?

Optional. We provide standard paracetamol and ibuprofen in the post-op kit. If you have a brand preference (e.g., specific NSAID you tolerate well) bring that. Do not bring strong opioids — Turkish customs has restrictions.

Are there pharmacies near my hotel?

Yes. Antalya has 24-hour pharmacies in every major neighborhood. Hotels can direct you. Most pharmacists speak English. WeCare coordinator can also assist if you need anything specific during your stay.

    What about food allergies?

Tell us before arrival. We coordinate with the hotel for any specific dietary needs (gluten-free, vegan, lactose-free, etc.). Antalya restaurants are increasingly accommodating to dietary restrictions; English menus are widely available in tourist areas.

Should I bring my own wound dressing supplies?

No. The clinic provides all post-surgical supplies. Take-home kit includes everything you need for the recovery period.
