Some swelling and discomfort after dental surgery is normal and expected, typically peaking around 48-72 hours and then easing. Simple measures keep you comfortable while your clinic's specific instructions and any prescribed medication take priority.
The First 48-72 Hours
After the Peak
Swelling usually starts to settle from around day three. Warm (not hot) measures may be advised at that stage by some clinics. Continue soft foods and gentle, approved oral hygiene as comfort returns.
When to Contact Your Clinic
Reach out if pain increases instead of easing after a few days, if swelling worsens significantly, or if you have a fever — these warrant prompt review. WeCare patients have direct support throughout recovery.
