Your First Consultation — Day-by-Day Walkthrough

A practical preview of exactly what happens at your first WeCare consultation. Photography, 3D CBCT, treatment planning discussion, mock-up viewing, and decision points. No surprises.

Many international dental tourism patients arrive at the clinic without a clear picture of what the first day will involve. This guide walks through exactly what happens at your initial WeCare consultation — what we examine, what we ask, what you see, and what decisions you make.

Arrival Day Schedule

Hotel pickup: Multilingual coordinator collects you from hotel lobby (15-30 minutes from clinic depending on hotel choice). Mercedes-class vehicle, English-speaking driver.

Arrival at clinic (15-30 min):

  • Reception welcome + paperwork (2 minutes — minimal)
  • Coordinator orientation tour: the clinic layout, where to wait between phases, restroom location, water/coffee
  • Brief medical history review with the coordinator (if not already submitted via WhatsApp)
  • Photography session (15 minutes):

  • Standardised intraoral photographs from 8 angles
  • Smile photographs in different lighting (natural daylight, fluorescent, LED)
  • Profile and full-face shots
  • Photographs are reviewed by the treating doctor before clinical exam
  • Clinical Examination Phase

    Treating doctor consultation (45-60 minutes):

The treating doctor (Dr. Yılmaz for implants, Dr. Kaya for veneers/cosmetic, Dr. Schäfer for endodontics) personally examines you:

  • Visual oral examination
  • Periodontal probing (gum health assessment)
  • Tooth mobility check
  • Bite analysis
  • Occlusion (how teeth meet) check
  • TMJ palpation if relevant
  • Mouth opening and movement assessment
  • The doctor explains everything as they examine. You can ask questions throughout — there is no rushed feeling. Most consultations exceed 45 minutes because the doctor takes time to understand your specific case.

    3D CBCT Imaging (10 minutes)

Sirona Orthophos SL 3D scanner produces a detailed 3D image of your jaws, teeth, and surrounding anatomy:

  • Less than 30 seconds of actual imaging time
  • No injection, no preparation needed
  • Lower radiation than a transatlantic flight
  • Image processed in 1-2 minutes
  • Digital Smile Design Session (60-90 minutes)

For cosmetic cases (veneers, Hollywood smile, smile redesign), this is the most important part of day 1:

    Computer design (30 minutes):

The doctor + coordinator + ceramist (when applicable) work with your photographs to:

  • Match face shape to ideal smile dimensions
  • Apply golden ratio principles to tooth proportions
  • Generate 3-5 different smile design alternatives
  • Show you each option overlaid on your facial photograph
  • Acrylic mock-up (45-60 minutes):

A temporary composite material is shaped over your existing teeth to physically demonstrate what the planned smile would look like in your mouth, in your face, in different lighting:

  • You see, smile, talk, take selfies
  • Compare options in different lighting conditions
  • Discuss specific preferences (length, shape, brightness)
  • Document your preferred design with photographs
  • Approval moment:

Once you approve the design, treatment proceeds. If you want changes, the design is iterated at no additional charge — sometimes in real-time.

    Treatment Planning Discussion (30-45 minutes)

The treating doctor presents your treatment plan:

  • Recommended approach (implant + crown, veneers, All-on-4®, etc.)
  • Alternative options if relevant
  • Brand recommendations with reasoning
  • Total visit duration
  • Any pre-treatment requirements (medications, smoking cessation, etc.)
  • Post-treatment care expectations
  • Realistic timeline including any healing windows
  • You ask any questions. Take notes. Discuss with companion if traveling with one. There is no pressure to decide immediately.

    Decision Points

By end of day 1, you make these decisions:

  • Treatment plan acceptance: Yes/no/with modifications
  • Brand selection: Among premium options recommended for your case
  • Aesthetic preferences: Specific shade, shape, length (for cosmetic cases)
  • Schedule confirmation: Treatment day commitments
  • If you need overnight to think, that is fine. Surgical procedures typically scheduled day 2 or 3 of your visit, giving you 24-48 hours to commit fully.

What You Pay on Day 1

    If you accept the plan:

  • Balance of treatment cost typically split: 50% on day 1, 50% on day 4-5
  • Deposit was already paid before arrival (20-30%)
  • Day 1 payment by credit card or bank wire transfer
  • Itemised receipt provided
  • What Happens After Day 1

    Same day evening:

  • Return to hotel via Mercedes transfer
  • Light dinner at hotel or nearby restaurant
  • Soft food preferences if surgery scheduled next day
  • Early sleep recommended
  • Day 2 typically:

  • Treatment begins (surgery, tooth preparation, etc.)
  • See specific treatment guides for what to expect
  • What Patients Often Ask

"Do I need to bring anything?"

WhatsApp confirmation, passport, list of medications, insurance documents (if claiming), comfortable clothes, water bottle. Coffee/tea provided at clinic.

    Frequently Asked Questions

    How long is the consultation?↓

2-3 hours total. Photography + clinical exam + CBCT + Digital Smile Design (if cosmetic) + treatment plan discussion. Plus breaks. Plan to spend most of the morning at the clinic.

Do I have to commit to treatment on day 1?↓

No. Most patients commit by end of day 1 because the treatment plan and Digital Smile Design preview makes the decision clear. If you need 24-48 hours to think, surgery is typically scheduled day 2-3, giving you time. No pressure.

Can I see the treatment plan in writing?↓

Yes. The written treatment plan you received via WhatsApp is finalised on day 1 with any modifications based on the clinical examination. You receive a printed copy.

What if I have specific questions for the doctor?↓

Bring them written down. Treating doctor (Dr. Yılmaz, Dr. Kaya, Dr. Schäfer) is the actual person you communicate with throughout — not a sales agent. Direct WhatsApp access continues after day 1 too.

What if I decide not to proceed with treatment?↓

You owe only the consultation fee (typically refunded if you proceed with any treatment). Materials already ordered for your case (custom abutments, etc.) are non-refundable. Most patients commit by end of day 1.

Yes, encouraged. Many couples come together. Comfortable seating in consultation rooms. Companion can be present for all clinical discussions and decision points.
